To cope with heavy metal stress, plant root systems undergo structure modification and release of multifarious metabolites. Elucidation the resistance strategies to metals mediated by system is crucial comprehend mechanisms plants. Here two rice cultivars contrasting grain cadmium (Cd) accumulation traits were selected responses their Cd stress evaluated morphological metabolomics analysis. The phenomic metabolomic varied between under stress. low-Cd cultivar (TY816) had a more highly developed that coped (10 µM) maintaining high activity, while cells high-Cd (JY841) lost viability due excessive accumulation. TY816 upregulated lipids fatty acids reduce uptake, whereas JY841 phenylethanoid glycosides Cd-induced oxidative combination phenomics revealed roots employ multiple increase tolerance Differing capacities shape architecture reprogram exudate metabolites may contribute abilities TY816.
